Champions! August 18, 2008

The results are in!  And, yes, they’ve been in for several days, but I’m just now getting the chance to sit down and broadcast them to the Interweb.

Congrats to Redwood Gospel MIssion who won the Rec league championship, defeating Sonoma Avenue Church of Christ 16-6.

Congrats to SRBC Red who won the Competitive league championship, defeating Spring Hills 12-7.

Congrats to Spring Hills 2 who won the Coed league championship, defeating Santa Rosa Christian Church 18-6.

Unfortuntaely, there are no trophies, just the satisfaction of know you won and that everyone will be gunning for you next year.

I hope everyone enjoyed the leagues this year.  I know I had a great time running things and for all the opportunities to talk with folks from different churches in the community.  Hope to see you all again next year.

Rec Playoffs August 9, 2008

Here is the bracket for the Coed tourney.  Remember, as stated in earlier emails and posts the championship games for both the Coed league and the Rec league will played on THURSDAY Aug. 14th.  First round playoff games for both leagues will be played on MONDAY Aug. 11th.  I’ll be sending an email to qualifying playoff teams also.

A couple of things about the postseason…
Since the playoffs occur late in the summer, light for the second game can be an issue.  So, its important to hustle on and off the field in between innings so we can get as many innings in as possible.  If everyone is ready to go and its just a little before start time, let the umpires know you’re ready to go.  They know the light can be an issue so they shouldn’t have a problem with it.  No one wants a playoff game called due to darkness.  It happened a few years ago in a championship game…and the game was tied.
 
Also, if you have multiple teams in your league or in a a couple leagues and one made the playoffs and one didn’t, please keep the integrity of your rosters that you played with with your playoff qualifying team as intact as possible.  We all know that there are injuries and vacations and things that prevent this from happening sometimes, but please don’t just combine forces from a couple teams to make one super team for the playoffs.  That isn’t fair to the other teams.  I’m sure this isn’t going to be a problem, but I at least wanted to put the bug in everyone’s ear.
 
Good luck everyone and remember to get your scores in ASAP so I can keep the brackets updated.

Coed Playoffs Set! August 5, 2008

It came down to three teams vying for two spots on the last day of the regular season with Spring Hills 1 and New Vintage emerging victorious, giving them the last two playoff spots.  Here is the bracket for the Coed tourney.  Remember, as stated in earlier emails and posts the championship games for both the Coed league and the Rec league will played on THURSDAY Aug. 14th.  First round playoff games for both leagues will be played on MONDAY Aug. 11th.  I’ll be sending an email to qualifying playoff teams also.

Coed Standings August 4, 2008

The Monday night coed standings have been updated and here they are.

SRCC and Spring Hills 2 have clinched their playoff spots but the other two are up for grabs between Hessel, Spring Hills 1, and New Vintage.  Neither of those teams square off against each other, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens in three seperate games before we can see who qualifies.  There’s three teams vying for two spots!  Is this a pennant race or what?!  Please report your scores PROMPTLY (Monday night after the games would be perfect) as everyone will be waiting to hear what the results are.  Good luck everybody.

Oh, and do all the Tuesday night teams know when they’re playing?  I sent you all the info but only got a reply back from one team.  If you’re unsure, check the bracket in the previous post or contact me.
