I’ve received some concerns from the church maintenance staff regarding some issues there have been on the fields. Some kids apparently piled some rocks up on the grass near the baseball backstop and the person mowing the lawn didn’t see them and the blade of the lawn mower was broken. Also, someone threw some big rocks at the shop down below field 1 and put a big hole in the facing which will now have to be replaced. Both of these happened at times when our games would’ve been going on. I know these likely weren’t malicious acts, and we love having lots of kids out to watch their mom and dad play and have fun with their friends, but please try to keep an eye on the kiddos to make sure they are treating the grounds with proper respect. Thanks.

The standing for the first couple of weeks have been updated.  I was missing a few scores and sent emails out to try to get those rounded up.  Remember, both teams (home and visitors) should email me the score.  This way I can make sure its accurate and hopefully if one team forgets, the other will remember.  Hopefully you are enjoying the season so far.  I know I am (though I’d be enjoying it just a little bit more if we were undefeated).

This is it people.  Practice is over, the rust has been knocked off (hopefully), all that’s left to do now is take the field for some game action.  Tomorrow the season kicks off officially with the coed league getting underway.  The competitive and rec leagues will get started on Tuesday and Thursday respectively for a summer of great softball action.  Standings will be updated on this website as often as I can keep them, probably not every week, but hopefully about every other.  I’ll also post any announcements that may be necessary concerning the leagues.  Give the address to your players so they can keep up to speed on things.  Also, the rules are posted here as well as a master schedule for each league (eventually).

The season will begin in two weeks, Monday, May 18th.  If you haven’t paid yet, please get your fees into the office by tomorrow if at all possible.  If you haven’t mailed it yet, you can deliver it to the church office in person also.  They’re open from 8AM to 5PM.  I’ll get the schedules out early next week.  See you on the diamond.

We’re about a month away and the sign-ups are trickling in.  Don’t forget that May 4th is the deadline for getting all your fees paid.  If you can let me know before you pay if you are in or out, that would be a great help to me, just so I have an idea of who to count on.  Not much else to report right now.  Hope to see you all on the diamond soon.

The results are in!  And, yes, they’ve been in for several days, but I’m just now getting the chance to sit down and broadcast them to the Interweb.

Congrats to Redwood Gospel MIssion who won the Rec league championship, defeating Sonoma Avenue Church of Christ 16-6.

Congrats to SRBC Red who won the Competitive league championship, defeating Spring Hills 12-7.

Congrats to Spring Hills 2 who won the Coed league championship, defeating Santa Rosa Christian Church 18-6.

Unfortuntaely, there are no trophies, just the satisfaction of know you won and that everyone will be gunning for you next year.

I hope everyone enjoyed the leagues this year.  I know I had a great time running things and for all the opportunities to talk with folks from different churches in the community.  Hope to see you all again next year.
